The new edition of Pro Wrestling Title Histories is on sale now!
Much of the information in This Week In Wrestling is researched from Wrestling Title Histories. The 2000 edition is available now. It is the most complete record of over 2,000 professional wrestling titles and titleholders ever published. If you want a complete guide of who the title holders were in your favorite territories, you must own this ultimate reference book. Contains information on titles from the WWF, WCW, ECW, NWA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, all the old territories -- Florida, Mid-Atlantic, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Toronto, Dallas, Portland, Kansas City, St. Louis, Atlanta, Calgary, Memphis, Knoxville, Montreal, Puerto Rico, Mid-South, San Antonio and more -- as well as hundreds of independent promotions from across the U.S. (including now-defunct favorites like Smoky Mountain, the UWF, and the USWA). The new edition includes major title changes (WWF, WCW, ECW) right up to the end of 1999.

Two World Titles Defended Simultaneously!

Two Ring Excitement Opens Will Rogers Coliseum in Ft. Worth

NWA World Heavyweight Championship
Harley Race vs. David Von Erich

World Women's Championship
Evelyn Stevens vs. Fabulous Moolah

Ft. Worth
Will Rogers Coliseum

Oct. 9, 1978

When the Ft. Worth promotion moved to the Will Rogers Coliseum it opened the new venue in style. Two regulation rings were put side-by-side for the evening's action. An unusual ribbon cutting ceremony saw Kevin and David Von Erich come to the rings before the first match. A ribbon was tied between two opposite corners of a ring. Kevin won a coin toss and "cut the ribbon" by body slamming his younger brother through it. David forgave his brother enough to team with him and father Fritz Von Erich in a two-ring six-man tag team match against Gary Hart, Gino Hernandez and the White Knight (Dick Steinborn). Wrestlers from each team wrestled in separate rings. A pin in either ring ended the match. The third man was on the adjoining aprons between rings and could tag into either ring.

But the highlight saw each ring host simultaneous World title matches. Harley Race was in town to defend his NWA World heavyweight championship against the 300-pound American champion Bruiser Brody. In the adjacent ring, Evelyn Stevens defended her newly won World women's title against Fabulous Moolah. Stevens had taken the title from Moolah the night before in Dallas. Alas, for Stevens, her title reign was short lived. The ring Brody and Race were in couldn't contain their brawl. They ended up in the women's ring. Stevens was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was inadvertently decked by Brody when Race ducked a haymaker. Moolah regained her title by easily pinning the dazed Stevens.
